五大唱片

芭蕾一字源自法文，改自義大利的BALLETTO一字，在義大利文中，原意只是指小型的舞稻，同一個字源在拉丁文中也指舞蹈。最早在十五世紀的芭蕾，其實是將劍術舞蹈化而成的，但到了十七世紀法皇路易十四的宮廷中，被發展成一種正式的舞蹈。1850年代以後，法國芭蕾被帶到俄國和丹麥去，然後到了二十世紀又將在俄國發展出來的芭蕾新風格帶回到西方。戴亞基列夫所帶領的俄國芭蕾舞團，是將俄國芭蕾引介到西方的重要關鍵，他也委託了許多作曲家為他的舞團創作，直接催生了許多二十世紀重要的作品，像是拉威爾的波麗露舞曲、達芙尼與克羅埃、史特拉汶斯基的春之祭、彼得羅希卡和火鳥等等。但一般人最熟悉的芭蕾舞劇，還是法國十九世紀初開始的那種古典芭蕾，這個時代的芭蕾音樂，以亞當、德利貝所寫的一系列名作最常被人演出，像是「吉賽兒」、「柯貝莉亞」、「席爾薇亞」等劇，這時期的芭蕾風氣之盛，也影響到稍晚的法國浪漫大型歌劇，觀眾因為想要既聽到優美的歌劇演唱，又看到華麗的芭蕾場景，讓古諾等歌劇作曲家紛紛在歌劇中加入大量的芭蕾舞段。法國芭蕾的巔峰直接又引響到俄國十九世紀後期的芭蕾，因為是法國編舞家佩第帕將法國芭蕾引進到俄國宮廷的，而柴可夫斯基就是為他寫下了三大芭蕾舞劇。這樣的歷史傳承，就反映在這五十首芭蕾名曲中。
